President’s Welcome Message
Players and all your family members, welcome to the inaugural season of the new Sunnyvale Cupertino PONY Baseball league! After all the preparation work by our board members, we’re excited to be kicking off our season. Our board members include:
Tony Tokuno, President
Rich Reed, Vice President and Secretary
Beth Ball, Player Representative
Dave Ball, Executive Committee
Steve Brogley, Treasurer
The board members have worked hard and done a great job preparing for our season, including applying for and being accepted as a youth baseball league by both PONY Baseball and the City of Sunnyvale, advertising and registering enough players for our teams, setting up our website, transferring uniforms and equipment from the old league, buying new equipment, supplies and uniforms, incorporating the new league with 501(C)3 tax-exempt status, obtaining medical and liabilty insurance coverage, drafting league operating rules, getting sponsors to support our league, setting up an interlock schedule with 3 other local PONY baseball leagues and preparing for our Opening Day.
As a player in our league, you are part of a fine, nation-wide organization. The PONY in PONY Baseball stands for Protect Our Nations’ Youth and the PONY Baseball program is designed to provide experiences in youth baseball and softball that will help young people develop. The PONY Baseball organization started in 1951 in Pennsylvania and has graduated over 800 players into the major leagues.
We hope you enjoy your experience with us this season and will help us in recruiting other players to our league for our 2010 season. We also hope you’ll visit our league sponsors listed in this book. If there is anything that we need to improve, please contact any of our board members.
Tony Tokuno
President
